Charis (χάρις) appears 156 times in the original Greek manuscript of the New Testament, most commonly translated to "grace" or "favor". At it's core describes a generous, completely undeserved gift given out of the goodness of the giver's heart rather than something earned. This is our relationship with God: a wellspring of grace, love, and kindness we could never earn and do not deserve.
